Wanted to recommend a book I think most gardeners/farmers will enjoy: |
|
"Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver. In the author's own words, "This is the story...of how our family was changed by our first year of deliberately eating food produced from the same place where we worked, went to school, loved our neighbors, drank the water, and breathed the air."
Lots of people besides me must have loved this book too because it made the NY Times Bestseller list.
Anyway if you are looking for a good book this summer and you haven't already picked this one up, I'll bet you'll enjoy reading it.

2. I have had that in my "to read" pile... but now I am going to move |
|
it up the pile. I'm about to go on a two week road trip with my hubby, and I'm looking for 'karmic clues' to pick out my reading material. Yours was the clue I was looking for.

Informative and a thoroughly pleasurable read.
Kingsolver is an excellent writer of both non-fiction and novels.

4. Fun recipes for different seasons too. |
|
I hope to be half a successful with my small spread next year.
We have added an orchard 3 apple, 2 pear, 2 cherry, 1 peach. The bee hives are hummin' 30 lbs. of strawberries, and a few batches of jam made. Freezing peas this weekend. Cherry tomatoes popping in the greenhouse.
Gonna be straight out busy until October. Its a good busy.

that really got me started (my husband would say obsessed) with clean, safe, local food. We got more serious about our garden and chickens, and joined our local food coop. Never going back.
It is a fabulous book! :hi:
