Why only Hunting?
I am new to the Outdoor life group and read the admin's message today. He seemed to be focused on the hunting aspect of firearm use.

I own dozens of firearms, yet only a couple are for hunting, which I do a couple times a year (Pheasant and Deer). I could really care less if I ever hunted again!

Most of my shooting experience is target shooting, three gun matches, IDPA and practical shooting, Trap shooting and participation in Machinegun shoots and displays.

There really is a lot more to responsible gun ownership and sporting use of firearms then hunting.

Of course I understand that political discussion goes here:

1. There are plenty of non-hunting gun related posts here...
so I wouldn't sweat it too much. When this group was proposed the idea was sort of a catch all "outdoorsie" forum, hence the emphasis on hunting discussions rather than Sig vs. Glock arguments or whatever.

(The correct answer is Sig by the way. )

2. Agreed
After reading more of the forum I realized that there has been a movement to for a separate interest group concerned only with firearm related sports. It would be a good idea, but since this is a pretty slow forum in general, it is OK to leave things as they are.

So, you are a SIG guy? I do not have a SIG, and can not proclaim to have ever shoot one. I do have three Glocks (17, 20 & 29). I like them, but my concealed carry gun is my S&W 915 (9mm) of my Kimber Custom II (.45cal).

3. I own a couple of sigs
Two 239s, one in 9mm and the other in 357sig. I've nothing against Glocks really, I've just never owned one though I've thought about picking one up. I get bored of shooting the same old thing all the time. I'm considering a Glock 37 because I'm interested in the 45 Gap. It's either that or a Springfield XD 45 Gap. I have a thing for odd ball calibers.

4. Glock conversions
One of the nice things about certain glocks is the ease of converting to different calibers.
The Glock 20 and 29 (full size and sub compact, the sub compact is a hand killer in 10mm!) are 10mm in their original configuration. But a simple barrel change (barrels available from FAC for about $100) gives me either a 40S&W or .357sig. The bolt and magazines are the same. It is much nicer shooting either of these calibers in the 29 compact model compared to shooting the 10mm, which just hurts to bad.

I had purchased my first Kimber .45cal last year and I simply love this gun. I am always a little worried about .45cal as I have slightly smaller hands, but this one fits right and shoots very well. I am still uncomfortable carrying it cocked and locked with a round chambered (as all 1911's are configured), so I usually have it as safety off, no round chambered, and if the need ever arises I hope to do the Israeli draw, rack and load and fire.

5. Several of the Sigs you can you the barrel conversion thing too.
I don't own any 1911s, which probably indicates some sort of moral deficiency on my part, but I do like the look of the Kimbers.

So many toys, so little money and time to play with them. :P

6. I don't hunt.
I have 0.22 carbine and a 0.22 single action revolver for target shooting and a 9mm pistol in case the Fundies decide to come around to lynch all the god-hating liberal traitors like me.
