Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 04:39 PM by ObamaKerryDem
..me. :) I don't think I've posted this here yet, but I've recently moved to MA from AZ, as I am attending law school in the Northern Boston area and sent in my form to register to vote today. Unfortunately, I was not able to register in time for the primaries today (as I just moved into my new place last week and I think you had to have the form in 20 days in advance of the primary?), but I will be ready to go for November!

I'm excited to get involved politically here and to have JK as my Senator, too (I'll just ignore that other dude)! :)

but, in my district, except for the two statewide races (treasurer and auditor), there was nearly nothing.

10. Really? Cool! What part of AZ did you move from? I moved from the Tucson area..

..which is actually one of the more progressive spots in the state, as you probably know/remember. :) When did you come out to MA? So cool to hear that another Kerrycrat has made the same transition! :)

14. I've pm' ed you details , but I thought I'd offer you a political description
of our former home. Our representative was :puke: John Shadegg!! :puke: So Republican was our district that one election the Dems didn't even bother to mount a candidate for state legislature. And one of our neighbors -- just across the street from us --was Arpaio's notorious deputy and partner in crime, Hendershott. (There was this period when the Hendershotts suddenly embarked on extensive home renovations, seemingly out of nowhere -- then shortly thereafter it was reported that he was double-dipping into his retirement fund and his new position .. well, the connection was obvious. . : ) ). We envied Tucson. : )

17. Oh, I'm sorry..sounds like a nightmare! Yeah, we were pretty spoiled down in Tucson..
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 02:59 PM by ObamaKerryDem
..with Grijalva, Giffords, etc though where I used to live before that, in Cochise county, was definitely GOP country (though it got a at least a little bluer in the '08 cycle). I remember being in my Senior year of HS--my first time voting :)--and being one of like 5 people in the school that were for JK (the rest--well at least of the ones who were politically involved or interested at all-- were gung ho for Bush and bragged endlessly about it when he "won".. :puke:) So Tucson was a huge relief when I moved there for college! :)

6. Hear, hear!
I've been here all summer, but haven't had a chance to get in touch with anyone. I think the Mass Kerrycrat coalition has actually grown since the last big meetup in... '06?

Welcome, ObamaKerryDem!

It's a great feeling to become a Massachusetts resident and voter, isn't it? I've been out in California for a while now, helping my family with health crises, but I maintain my Massachusetts resident status and look forward to living there again as soon as things settle down. One of the things that makes Massachusetts so cool is that people care so passionately about politics. I'd never seen anything like it before I got there!

8. Thanks, yes it definitely is! :) So cool that you're in CA, even though I'm sorry to hear that it's
not under the best of circumstances. I'm originally from CA--was born there and spent the first several years of my life there until my family moved out to AZ. I've been back to visit many times since. :) But I love it here in MA--it's honestly one of the most beautiful states that I've been too--still getting used to all the greenery, coming from the desert and all! lol. And I definitely get a very political vibe out here. So many of the conversations in my law classes tend to go back to politics and I hear many people discussing it in casual conversation outside of school, too. Can't wait to get more involved! :)

12. If any people in the area want to get together, PM me
I'll put together a small email list and we can plan something! If you're not living here but might want to come in from nearby states, feel free to PM me, too. I'm thinking of something small, but I hope we can have a larger get-together sometime, with lots of us, too. I know there has been talk in the past of gatherings in other states.

18. Yes, indeed! :D I am so proud--and excited!--to have him representing me now..
Edited on Thu Sep-16-10 03:04 PM by ObamaKerryDem
..especially coming from a state with two GOP senators (McCain and Kyl) who, Kyl especially but increasingly McCain too as he continues to pander more and more to the right , I feel did not represent me..

Yeah we're stuck with Scott Brown until '12 at least, but JK makes up for it! He's amazing. :) Though I look forward to helping vote Scott out in 12..*crosses fingers* :D
