My sympathies to you on the passing of Pope John Paul II |
|
I share the deep sadness you now feel after losing the leader of your church, a father to so many around the world. Long after the controversial issues that John Paul II took conservative stances on have passed from the scene, he will be remembered as a man who helped bring Communism to its knees, and advanced the cause of social justice around the world. More than anyone except Harry Truman, in my opinion, John Paul II did the most to win the Cold War. This will be his lasting legacy.
My prayers go out to you, and to the 119 men charged with selecting the next pontiff - may they be guided to choose the right man for not only the Church, but for the world.

The Holy Father was a great man who accomplished many great things. Blessed be his memory.
