9. Good grief! In all my working life, I escaped that |
|
particular indignity. I thought time cards were bad enough, for a number of reasons, such as being forced to go home early in order that the bank wouldn't have to pay us overtime when we'd worked 10-14 hours straight on busy days (Mondays and Tuesdays, especially when the first of the month falls on a Friday, Saturday, or Monday.)
Actually, I suppose drug testing was done in all employment physicals once drugs became more widely used and caused problems in the workplace, but I was never subject to random drug tests. I think random drug testing is unfair. Why not just test workers suspected of having a drug problem due to actual decline in performance on the job?
Because it would make too much sense, perhaps?
ALL labor (including white collar workers, academics, nurses, etc., should be unionized so rights are preserved and decent pay scales are followed.
