I was reading about the Gospels this morning, and was thinking about the fact

I was reading about the Gospels this morning, and was thinking about the fact
that the early Christians were hounded out of the synagogues for not being in line with orthodox teachings. (Small 'o" orthodox, not Capital "O" Orthodox). What does that say to us today when Roy Bourgeois, the women priests, the Brazilian doctors are excommunicated for not following the Vatican line, and millions leave because they disagree with the increasing rigidity?
