Hi there, folks, just checking in |
|
I'm sorry I haven't been around much, but hopefully next week will be less chaotic.
Wanted to tell you, the editor of OpEd News wants me to write an article about how difficult it is to get mental health care in this country. I thought I'd let you know in case any of you want some input
So, :hi: everyone and I'll be back.
best to you all, hope you're thriving, Beth

that's great news! It's been crazy here too --especially since it's the end of school!

2. How are you holding up, Blue Roses? |
|
I feel like I've been missing out on everything. Update me if you get a sec.
I've been really busy for the last week, and not giving Doug the support he's used to. Well, maybe all marriages go through times like that.
Here's a big :grouphug:
best to you all, Beth

3. Congrats on your article! Are you going to tie in the new frontline |
|
that will be on Tuesday? About how many mentally ill are now being forced into prison, rather than getting the care they need?
Yes, mental health care in this country sucks. I live in Massachusetts, and we seem to have one of the better state run programs. We have some great advocates in my neck of the woods, who bent over backwards getting me on Medicaid, and following up with the care I need. (but I think that might be an exception to the rest of the country). I have heard horror stories of the way it works (or should I say doesn't?) in New Jersey and California, especially.
If I had to make one comment, I guess it would be something along the lines of... these people, who have a difficult time performing their activities of daily living, are expected to be their own advocates, from everything from finding health insurance, to chasing down the cheapest place to purchase their medication. Abandoned by society.
Good luck with your article. :hi:
And thanks so much for all of your work helping Andy out, I am so happy to hear that he received all that he needed. :)

4. I'm in CA, and this state has a long history of investing in prisons |
|
rather than mental health care :(
I'm not looking to tie into anything until the thing is drafted. So, if any of you guys have a message, I'd like to include it. And then will work the tie-ins.
Nice to be here for a moment.
Be well, Beth
