1. Not familiar with it specifically
although I know what it's for. Is this your first round of meds, or are you trying it after having gone through a few other things first?

2. No, I've been on meds for almost 10 years now.
I'm trying it with Seroquel. I am a psycoaffective (sp.?) disorder and am having trouble with hearing voices. Thanks.

3. Well, Abilify (aripiprazole ) is used to treat a variety of disorders
from Schizophrenia to Bipolar, and hearing voices could fit into that, so it's certainly applicable. Everyone reacts to stuff differently. If it's your first day, it's a bit early to tell, I would think.

My impression is that it's unique because it sort of "mediates" the receptors - if a receptor is overstimulated, it blocks it from receiving more, and yet if it's understimulated it stimulates it to be more receptive. Most other meds do one or the other. It'd be interesting to see how it works for you.

4. It sucked
It gave me nausea. But I figured If I give it a week maybe it'll wear off..and it did..BUT as soon as the nausea subsided I got horrible shits, like burning lava..and that did not stop.Until 2 weeks after I had stopped the Abilify.
I got a hemmeroid after taking it. I never had those sorts of problems before abilify. And my intestines are not the same as before I took it.I think abilify may have damaged my intestinal tract. I am too scared to get a colon check.I know I'm going to have to do it sometime, sooner the better ,but right now it's too scary to deal with it and with my throat acting up too.
If your bowels freak out I would advise you call your doctor and STOP THE DRUG.I think it may have damaged my lower intestines.Better to not risk this if you get similiar side effects as I got and since every body is different you may not get the reaction I got..But if you do,I reccomend you call your doc,and get help soon.

 Actually, I've felt a little nausea today and a painful toliet experience as in :hurts:

It burns me, but it does calm me down. Thanks for telling me your story. I see my doctor tomorrow and I'll talk to him about it.
