Ok results with homeopathy .. |
|
I've had depression for a very long time, was seeing a psychologist for a while, lost my insurance. At one time or another i've tried about 5-7 different pills as hand me downs from my bipolar sister. Only one i ever took that did anything was celexa, and it make me feel like i was going to throw up most of my waking hours. A few years later she got into homeopathy and suggested i do an online consultation which i did and answered a long questionairre that was difficut to finish because of all the subtleties in the questions, and was given a small bottle of something or other.
After a few weeks of taking it i could see some improvements and am generally happy with the results as compared to the medical stuff i've tried. I take it every so often when symptoms start to become noticable again. I'm prone to responding to situations and things i read in an overly emotional way, sometimes crying or feeling sad in massive disproportion to what is happening, especially movies, even if they are really cheesy.
Anyway, just thought i'd throw this in the ring as a possible alternative to traditional treatments because there are no side effects unlike the more "normal" approach. Another benefit is i paid 125.00 for the consultation and first bottle which lasted me 3 months, and she sent out another bottle free when i ran out.

1. Do you know what it is that you are taking? |
|
Is it some kind of herb or vitamin? I've heard of herbs being used to treat depression. I took some St. John's wort one time and was so damn happy that I couldn't stop smiling. It was almost like I'd smoked some particularly good pot and had a case of perma-grin. I guess you're only supposed to take ONE tablet of that stuff at a time. ;)

2. it's some very long name.. |
|
But homeopathy is very specific, there isn't a "depression" treatement that is the same for everyone, and there's lots of crossover for remedies.
I can PM you her email if you want.

3. Well, I'm doing fine with the anti-depressant I'm taking |
|
It's really working well for me and at a somewhat low dose (150 mg Wellbutrin). I've been very fortunate in that everything my psychiatrist has tried on me has worked wonderfully without in side affects. I'm probably pretty rare in that way. Good luck with the homeopathy and I'm glad that you found something that works for you. That's what really counts.

4. I have been off medication for over 20 years now |
|
after being addicted to tranquilizers/sleeping pills for 10 years (while in threrapy with a psychiatrist) and having awful side effects from anti-depressants later when I tried them. This process was greatly aided by Homeopathy.
My GP was trained in Homeopathy, and now that he is retired I see a registered Homeopath/doctor whenever I feel I need to - about 3-4 times a year.
First I was given a remedy for my panic attacks, and later one(from table salt!!) for chronic depression.
I used to be phobic in many situations - at one very low point in my life I was agoraphobic outside my house, and claustrophobic inside....absolute hellish experience, I am sure some of you here can imagine. I could not travel in busses/trains/airplanes and sometimes cars, but now I do it all in comfort. :bounce:
It took a few months for Homeopathy to do its job, and it was a very dramatic, although at the same time subtle, change that made me feel "reborn" in many ways. Depression with its gloom and doom lifted, I could think and concentrate again, I could make decisions and take steps to do stuff again, and have had no regressions since then.
I can also highly recommend trying this for those who find no or not enough relief from medications, as long as you do it with, in my opinion, a well-respected/known Homeopath and even more preferable, a doctor who is trained also in Homeopathy.
The Homeopathic remedies work different for each person - there really is not "a remedy" that works for all people for depression or anxiety - a complete picture of the person must be made before diagnosis.
I certainly am not without my problems, but dramatic healing took place with the help of this medicine, and my proof is in my 20 year experience and freedom from meds and from the most debilitating symptoms of my mental illness.
So happy to hear that you have found such great relief too from this gentle, inexpensive treatment. Wow, this was an online treatment?

5. Btw...BPD is manageable, not really curable, and Homeopathy |
|
helps me create some stability out of the chaos.

6. Yes it was online with a few emails back and forth |
|
She sends you a lengthy questionairre with a few follow up emails for clarification on certain points. If you're familiar with homeopathy than you know how exact some of the answers have to be, which makes it difficult because most of the time i have no idea how i feel or if something is worse or better depending on the circumstance.
I wouldn't say that the results are fantastic, but they are noticable and without the dreadful side effects that many traditional medications have presented. I think that it's something many people should look into, many feel that it somehow lacks legitimacy, where i feel traditional medicine lacks a tremendous amount of legitimacy. Any pursuit of a goal that has a profit margin somewhere in it's timeline is compromised if you ask me.

face to face with the Homeopath too....
Results with me were not dramatic at first, but as time went by and I tried a few different remedies, 2 of them really seemed to hit the spot and made the difference, as you noted, without ANY trouble from side effects. This in itself was worth it for me.
I greatly value modern medicine for emergency surgeries and life-saving procedures, but for chronic conditions I much prefer other approaches.

edit: Do you have any follow-up possibilities with this Homeopath? If you ever have the opportunity to visit an accredited one in person, give it a try too....you can return when you want something different to try, or other symptoms crop up....
