How is everybody doing? I wanted to check in this holiday week end.
I've been on anti depressants for two weeks now and they're kicking in with no problems. Things that used to be really difficult, like getting up in the morning, seem to be a little easier. Thank you, Pfizer.

This weekend is the 13th anniversary of my now defunct marriage so I expected to be sort of squirrelly and it's not happening so far. (Thank you, Universe or whatEVER. Just, thank you.)

I've checked in with my peeps and am playing with my pup.

What about you guys?

1. I am resting up today in prepartaion for interaction with my family
both tomorrow and Monday. Tomorrow the sister who was a no-show is having everybody at her house. However she has a nice in- ground swimming pool I can hang out in by myself when people start to aggravate me,something I have done in the past. That pool is a great refuge for me.
Also I am happier because yesterday I got to talk to a real good internet friend of mine several times--he understands my issues pretty well but often does not have time to chat that much, but we had a nice discussion which did help me blow off some steam. But there was something that we discussed too that I would be curious about. He also has Mental Health issues he deals with but they are not really the same as mine, yet I feel that there are so many commonalities that all suffer with trying to deal with both externally and internally that talking to others with Mental Health issues both here in a support group and with individuals is really really helpful. Do you find that even if others don't have the exact same issue (ie depression vs say bipolar) it's helpful sharing experiences? I do.
Glad to hear you are doing okay and that the anti-depressants have kicked in after two weeks. Some of the ones I have tried take much longer than that. I am currently not on any but that may change in the future.
Finally I should say that this is probably the only place on DU where you will hear someone say "Thank You,Pfizer" even if its often deserved...:)

2. All Goes Well Here Also
Since my husband received notice his social security was approved, he is much more relaxed. The meds seem to be working a little, actually a whole lot better. He even took me to the grocery store today. That's a big deal and now he's visiting a friend. Usually one trip out is all he can handle.

I got put on some different medication. My heart had been pounding big time. After they finally decided my heart was still beating they put me on an anxiety drug. It works. No more heart pounding.

Congratulations on not being upset. Way to go and pat yourself on the back. It's a big accomplishment and all accomplishments need to be celebrated.:loveya:

5. things are good.
my daughter's boyfriend finally got a job. they are both working hard at becoming adults. things have really smoothed out for her. she has been behaving pretty well, except for spending one of her tuition payments. :banghead:
the 16 y.o. dropout child is adapting slightly to the idea that there will be no more mr nice guy until he gets a job, or works around the house. work or walk. followed by some scuffling. but, it is sinking in.

glad you are doing well, beth. hang in there.

7. Good to hear. I hope she's better with money than I was at that age.
Lol! I thought my $1000 was a vast amount that would allow me to buy expensive gifts for my family for Christmas. Boy, was I surprised!

And hey, no more brandy for me. No liquor at all as it doesn't go with my Prozac aka my little green homerun hitter. It was great to see you. :hi:

10. Isn't that sweet.
I was really nervous to be meeting you and it was so much fun. I felt like someone let me out of school.

Here's hoping next year is a better year and you come back.

12. Had a great weekend away with gf
I spent the whole weekend out of town with my girlfriend. We spent pretty much every second of the whole weekend together, and got along extremely well (only a couple minor tiffs about trivial things).

We'd had a bit of an argument the week before, which I'd mistaken for the onset of another depressive episode-- May is a bad month for me, as it was the same month my marriage broke up a couple years back, and also the month of my last major depressive episode. Plus I felt a little hypomanic in April, so I was worried about a rebound. However things were cool by Friday and we had a great time.

Glad to hear you are doing well! :hi:

13. Whew. Survived very high strung teens freaking out about finals.
Door slamming, wall pounding, yelling and screaming, and pleading heartfelt claims I couldn't possibly understand what it's like...

...Ooooooohhhhhhhh. I better go apologize to my mom, because I was worse than my kids... much worse. I was certain no teen had ever suffered like me, and I had the bloody knuckles from punching holes in the wall to prove it. (But I'm not going to tell my kids that.)
