I am having a panic attack. See I put a thick packet of |
|
papers between an acquaintances door and all I can think about about is if the door didn't hold their dog might have gotten out and hurt. I can't call them as they are away.
I just feel sick and stupid fixating on this. Earlier today all I could worry about was if my younger son fell in to the river near his grandfather's and drowned.
I need to see my psych nurse, this is just no good.

5. For "racing worries" like that, thought stopping works for me. |
|
I tell myself OUT LOUD to "Stop it." I don't know why it works and it doesn't always work 100% but it does help some.
Visualizing a neutral image is my #2 tool that works when my thinking gets worried like that. Same results as above and I don't know why this works either.
Eating doesn't work for me because then I feel worried AND guilty. lol

7. Oh, no kidding. But helping ourselves calm down |

can only help us manage reality based worries.
I don't mean to make this sound easy. I deal with it every day.
On edit: And the "stop it" has no judgement in it, none. It's just like a traffic signal, not like a criticism.

8. I understand *hugs* I don't have daily massive panic attacks, just low grade anxiety and then |
|
when my bipolar tilts the right way i get the real panic attacks where I literally pull my hair out.
Right now I may be able to pin the blame for this on a med.
