Frankincense and panic attacks or for general good feelings |
|
I bought a candle several months ago and it literally had something about it being for panic attacks. Now I know it was kind of a joke because all of their candles have weird names but when I just looked it up using Frakincense for anxiety is at least aromatherapy supported if you believe in it.
I loved my candle and I'm thinking about getting another one even though they are expensive. I've saved the wax and use it in a melting pot now so at least I get the smell still.
So I thought I'd share. I also have thought about finding the actual oil and using it for panic, (which bites the big one if you know what I mean)

1. Dammit if someone read this and bid on the only EBAY frankencence item |
|
I'm pissed. I kind of knew this would happen. So if I up the bid can whoever, (if it is indeed someone from here) just let me have this one and I'll let you have the next "last one"? I just checked and there are places you can buy the oil which is probably stronger. I've gotten into burning candles and melting wax lately though. I already went through my first batch.

2. the problem i have with this stuff |
|
is that someone might waste time getting REAL help while messing around with this worthless stuff. it takes so much time from the day someone picks up that phone to the time that they have a dx, find the right meds, build a relationship with a therapist, and start to feel better. it is such a long march. to go off on a side trip through something like this, well, not to be too melodramatic, but it could mean the difference between life and death. or at least between keeping things under control, and having them spin out. quackery is most dangerous in the roads not taken. and in denial reinforced. after all, if you can cling to candles and wax and smells, you can't be that sick.

3. Wow you don't know me.....or the handcuffs I've worn and the hospitals |

I've been in. I do take medication. I hate taking medication but I take it and I'm at the point yet again when everything has to be changed.
I have never told anyone to forgo treatment in favor of aromatherapy or any other type of therapy. But I can tell you that there are certain things that seem to help me, (rescue remedy by Bach flowers is one) that even my doctors would have no problem with me taking them.
And for some reason this smell makes me feel good all over. But so does vanilla.
I do understand your point however and I am not talking to someone who seriously needs medical help. I remember years ago putting vanilla on my hands and smelling it when I'd get nervous and yes it did help. I still was taking medication though.
When I told my doctor that I tried SAM-E and it seemed to help he said it was the first line of defense in Europe. Of course Europe uses a lot more natural things than the US does and now the SAM-E is so expensive I'm having a hard time getting enough of it to take 3 pills a day. But if someone was a bit depressed I would think it ok to tell them about this. And wouldn't it be loverly if our FDA studied it and OKed it like they do in Europe since it is a naturally occurring substance in the body.
I guess it's a fine line. I've been on medications fr 30 years now and I'm at the point where I worry about my liver! So I try natural liver detoxes. Whatever I think helps probably helps if you know what I mean.

that is why i didn't comment about this at first. it is sort of a pet peeve of mine. i had a niece that died of cancer while her parents gave her brown rice and shark cartilage. (she was a young adult, not a little kid.) so, it just always raises my radar. in a psyche situation, where a dx is so hard, treatment so hard to find, patients are so vulnerable, denial so easy and common, it just seems like one variable too many. you didn't recommend this to anyone else, but posting it here kind of implicitly does that. i tried not to phrase things in a personal fashion, just had to put my 2 cents in. peace.

5. Thanks for explaining. I guess I get jumpy lately because it just seems |

like it is one fucking thing after the other. Now I am looking at what seems to be Rosacea, (?) on my face. I've had it about 3 times in the last few months and before that..... never. So I am assuming I am having an allergic reaction but to what? On top of that I am wheezing a lot, (more allergy warnings) and I'm mad at myself for not getting allergy shots years ago because many of them would probably be gone by now, (I assume....don't know but some friends said their's went away)
I had the good sense to use a mask the last few times I worked in the yard and it just confirmed again how allergic I am to something out there
I got the Frankincense after I got the Rosacea (?) btw.
