I thought I had read somewhere there is a disability group
here on DU and yet I'm not finding it.

In many ways I can identify with the issues many of you are going through because at times I fight depression and a sense of hopelessness. I suffer from chronic pain and take a boatload of meds in order to semi-function. The one anti-depressant I'm on is elavil but that is prescribed to help me sleep and it's a very low dosage.

I also take klonoprin but it's not because of anxiety or anything but because klonoprin also acts as a muscle relaxant for smooth muscles as found in the stomach and intestines.

I'm on SSDI as well as long term disability thru my employer so I do share some of the frustrations with dealing with these entities as some of you do.

Should I see if there are enough people on DU who might be interested in a forum for the disabled or would I be welcome here if a disabled forum didn't generate enough interest.

I don't want to be a grump and focus on my disability but there are times I need support and I also feel I have something to offer in return.

1. Welcome, bratcatinok!
You are most welcome here for support offered and taken, besides, most of us here are "handicapped" to some degree.

Here is the forum you were thinking about, under Politics and Issues Forum:

Disabilities Issues and Activism

Feel free to use both for whatever your needs are.

:hi:

2. I'll check out politics and issues before I make a snap decision
I saw this group and realized pain is pain is pain whether it's emotional, mental or physical and one can lead to the other.

Will check in later after I look at the other forum.
Thanks for the warm welcome!

Brat
