2. Got the Chosen Collection for Solstice. |

I'd been watching on FX, (okay, Tivoing and watching while exercising) and I'm really glad it exists.
I'm starting Angel on Monday - that's when it starts over on TV. I never got to see it when it was on because I had a class the first season, and was lost when I tried to watch it when I had a different schedule....
I feel cheated that I missed it, but happy that DVDs exist!!

My wife and I loved that show. Shame that FOX is producing the DVDs, but I'm slowly finding them used.

4. One of my favorite shows ever. |
|
I thought the last seasons fell off a bit, but the first five were really great TV.
I liked the first couple of seasons of Angel, but I thought it also fell off a bit at the end.

5. I like the last two seasons.... |
|
I know it makes me something of a freak out there, but the last two seasons had a depth that the first few didn't. And I don't mind darkness...
I'm just getting started on Angel... I didn't like him as well (I've had it up to HERE with moody and whiny and obsessed...) and I really hated Cordelia, so Angel is not as interesting for me, I guess. But it's not bad.

I heard good buzz on the show from the beginning, but various things prevented scheduled TV watching during that time. Later, I caught a show occasionally--because of re-runs, often out of order. I could appreciate the humor, but was confused about the characters. Wait--is that Buffy's boyfriend or a bloodsucking fiend? Isn't Buffy an only child? Etc.
During some time off this summer, I caught up to 4 consecutive shows per day on TV & it started to make sense. I Netflixed my way through all of them & bought the Chosen collection.
I'm Netflixing my way through Angel right now. Pretty good, although not quite Buffy level.
I also missed Firefly--as many did. But I ordered the series sight-unseen & was not disappointed. Except for wishing there were more to it--long-term character development (or the "soap opera" effect) being one of Whedon's gifts. The movie was not enough!

I can echo pretty much everything you said - I watched the occasional episode over the years, but not being a big TV fan to begin with, I didn't get it.
Firefly is what brought me to the Whedon-verse, and that only because I caught the first half of the unaired pilot on SciFi and Netflixed the rest.
I miss firefly a lot....
