Just found this and thought
the group might be interested.

João Silva, 44, a South African photographer on contract with The New York Times, stepped on a
mine while accompanying American soldiers patrolling an area near the town of Arghandab in
southern Afghanistan on October 23rd, 2010. Despite immediate help from medics, both his legs
were lost below the knees.

1. Wasn't this the guy that took shit for taking photos of
Iraqi snipers? Some RWers accusing him of being a traitor and other bullshit? I canceled by doc appt so I used that money to buy a print. The work is a real punch in the gut. Powerful photos.

3. You have to be half crazy to do that work. He reminds me
of the photographer in "Waltz With Bashir."

4. Not sure if he is the same one
but looking through his photos he could be since he has one stated as a sniper and one of a person firing. Course might of been more than one photographer with the same type photos.
