This is a pelican alert AND a dial up alert!
I have been going to the Tennessee River my entire adult life and have never seen a migrating pelican there. This trip we came across hundreds of white pelicans and thousands of migrating gulls, and I put my new Lumix, my new 16gb card, and my two batteries to the test! The gulls I mostly left alone....... Not sure that these adequately portray this experience, but here goes anyway. Just a tiny sample..

1. I love bird photos. I'm also jealous of them. I'm not good at them.
Your shots are very good.

I especially like 3,4,7.

7. Thanks
I was really fortunate to have a mild day in February, a big camera card, an extra battery, and an accommodating husband with a boat, and his friend who actually identified these (my hubby would have called them gulls, LOL) and told me about them. I broke my strict rule about not going out into the main part of the river when the water temperature is under fifty degrees. This place was actually by the coal fired plant, and the water temperature was higher there. The gulls even rested on top of the coal. Yes, I will likely not forget the afternoon soon.
