1. I actually love this photo

Because the eye matches the buds, and because I love the budded tree. It is just a beautiful backdrop..........plus I love the profile.

It could be a backlit photo, but it doesn't scream backlit to me. It looks like the light is mostly diffuse. I am not sure how much people will consider whether the photos fit the theme, although I will encourage them to. The top of the head of the bird does look like light is coming around it so it probably qualifies as backlit. But I think you might consider saving this for another contest if you get a shot that seems *more* backlit, if that makes sense.

I would like other opinions on this, though.

No way will I disqualify anyone for not being backlit enough. :silly:

2. You are so on top, Celebration. Not only with your job here, but in your evaluation.

I saw the photo and felt similarly, that it has some components of "backlit" but the preponderance of the appearance lies elsewhere.
What you saw (eye -bud - color) was more detailed and a way better study than I made to myself. I, too, love the photo for the entire natural story it tells.
