World Wide Photo Walk on Sat & Sun!
Edited on Fri Sep-30-11 09:39 AM by GoneOffShore
Found out about this at a Scott Kelby training course I took this week - "Light It, Shoot It, Retouch It" - here in Philly.

I just signed up for the Philadelphia Franklin Square walk starting at 3:30P tomorrow. Here's a link to the walk - http://worldwidephotowalk.com/

The walk is free, the beer at the end isn't. And if you want a t-shirt you have to pay for that.

There is the chance to win some prizes.

1. I've done them for the past 3 years
For the most part they've been great experiences but it's pretty dependent on the host. Last year I had to switch walks a couple days before because host jumped on the crazy train when he sent out emails beforehand telling us how under appreciated he felt over the lukewarm response to go out to dinner afterwards.

2. I'm on my way to one on Sunday. I will probably go to the
Occupy Lexington Protest and photograph that.

9. I did too. I walked with an Asian guy from Hazard Ky.
He's s a newbie, but he has a good eye. He seems to have a good sense of composition. His Canon 60D with a massive 24~70 was an incredible machine. The Bokeh was like cream.

I have over 200 images to play with.

11. My neck can't handle even a P&S. If I can't carry it
comfortably in my hand, it is too heavy. My Micro 4/3 is perfect for me.

12. I have a Black Rapid strap
My neck was about to give out after two weeks.

13. When I went to the wrist strap, I found I was trying different
angles, reaching into places I was reluctant to try.

Because of some pots blocking my way, I braced myself on a greenhouse bed, reached down with my right hand and snapped this image. Would I have thought of that if the camera was dangling from my neck?

4. It was a great experience!
Met a lot of people - both professional photogs but beginners and everyone in between.

One guy brought 5 or 6 different film cameras: a couple of Minoltas, a Nikon and an old Agfa.

I'm going to try to host one here in Philly next year.

5. I forgot I had to plant yard signs for the Local Dems Sunday. I will
work in the walk before I do my route.

8. Just got back from my walk. 22 showed up. The sky was blue
the weather perfect. My feet hurt.
