From Chumash to China Town
Quite a city, L.A. The cultural diversity is quite astounding.

1. Number 1 is a beautiful portrait
I love the fingernails and the firecrackers bursting.

2. Thank you!
The portrait is of a shaman from Colombia. He's part of a tribe that is struggling to survive the influx of cocaine producers, para-military, military, corporations, and 5 other groups who want his tribal land. Very profound human being.

The fingernails are those of a street musician in China Town. She was playing quite remarkably beautiful music while her aged mother sat next to her in a wheelchair. Quit poignant.

5. Love this entire post, but especially the first, the portrait. And you are making it
very clear how you came to pick "hands". Beautiful hands, and a presentation of what you saw that made me feel like I was there as well!

6. Loved them all...
...but that first one is a real show stopper. I kept returning to it and drinking in the detail, the lighting -- it's just about perfect!
