Self Portrait - woodburning
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 02:48 AM by TheHelplessLlama
So, I was watching Walk the Line about a week ago. Great movie, I highly recommend it. And as I was watching the opening scene, when Johnny's laying face down on his bed, I decided I liked that pose. I knew I wanted to do a self portrait like that, but I hadn't decided on anything else.

I had 2 2'x4' panels under my mattress for future use. I knew I'd want to use them at some point, and I'm glad I bought them when I did. At first I was going to do a painting, but I decided against it. I hadn't done a woodburning in about 3 years, so that seemed like a good idea.

I also have a bunch of my sketchbook posted on there if you feel like looking through it. I posted the majority of it earlier when I was looking for a name for that style I had come up with. I think I've decided I like "simplistic representation" (thanks to mdmc for suggesting it).

3. I will as soon as I finish
I've got about half of the stain applied, and then I need to put on a coat of polyeurethane. It might take a little longer than I had anticipated because my brother's asthma has been bad this week and I'm pretty sure that the fumes from the staining aren't doing him any favors.
