Any repairmen in the house? It would be nice to know what the blinking on the on/off button means.

1. Check these Google links |
|
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=tv+blinking+light+on+off&hl=en&num=10&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&cr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&as_rights=&safe=imagesWould guess that you had a power surge, and that need to have your set repaired, and the blinking light is an indcator of powering down to keep your set from receiving more harm. Anyway...some good info found in many of the links BTW...My son was a given a brand new TV that did that. He took the set to a repair place, and I paid the repair bill of $113, and received a nice big NEW TV.

2. The blinking is a service code |
|
I just don't know what the particular blinks mean. 6 long, 1 short. I found a service manual at manualsparadise.com so hopefully that will have the code in it. There was no answer at the repair place, they're probably out of town for the holidays. Ack. It's always something. The coffee pot went kaplooey yesterday, but that was a cheap fix. I don't think we're going to get by so easy with this tv problem.
