Me and my son are installing a new tub/shower faucet and tub surround tomorrow. We live in a circa 1900 Mennonite farm house. All the plumbing is galvanized.I am going to plumb the tub shower with CPVC. I went to Lowes and bought the needed fittings etc today and noticed in big letters on the box of CPVC male adapters "Cold Water Only". The male adapters are each stamped "cold water only". I thought CPVC was made for both hot and cold, that is why people use CPVC. I asked on of the guys working the plumbing section. He acted surprised to see it then told me that it must be a mistake and that the fittings will be fine for hot water too. Well I don't buy that explanation at all, it is nonsense. I am having second thoughts about putting these fittings inside my walls. What do you think, should I be apprehensive?

2. I have never heard of such a restriction. |

I too was under the impression that they're fine for hot or cold. Heck my cousin's house was built just a couple of years ago and CPVC is what he has for ALL the plumbing. Were these "mislabeled" parts all from the same manufacturer? Maybe you could give them a call and find out what they mean, or maybe they could confirm that it's some kind of mistake.
