And is there a code on the labels that can tell you whether the mattress is quality? Thanks.

2. We bought a top of the line Lady Englander years ago.
At the time, I think we paid 750.00 for it(W/box spring), the store was going out of business and told us it was a sale price. We had no way of knowing if that was the case but the mattress is fantastic. A few years ago, I did some damage to my back and shoulder. Could not get comfortable in any position. I went to a specialist who told me to get a good quality mattress topper. We bought a 3" topper by "Carpenter Company". It is made of the stuff the astronauts use. Anyway, since using that, I have not lost sleep because of back or shoulder problems. I rotate the mattress and the topper often and both have held up well. The Doctor told me not go go by price, find one that is of good construction, by a reliable company and above all, get a mattress topper.

If you need just the mattress, you can probably do far better on prices. Get the topper.
There is other conversation here on DU about mattress toppers that you should read.

3. We bought an excellent set at Sears outlet store.
We paid about 25% of retail.

I'm guessing there is such an outlet store in every large metro area, but you probably have to drive a good way to get there.
