Our ice-maker sprung a leak... |
|
actually, it was the hose connecting the refridgerator's ice-maker to the water line. Happened overnight so there was a lot water to clean-up. Some of the carpeting in the adjoining hallways/rooms got wet. Picked-up what we could, and have fans blowing on it now to help dry it out.
Need opinions from DIY pros if we'll be okay or need to rip up the carpeting to dry out the subfloor, et al. Water probably seeped under the kitchen cabinets too -- and down into the crawl space under the house.
All advice welcomed. Thanks.

pull up the carpets, so the bottom dries, too. Prop it up with buckets or something. What kind of pad do you have? That might need to be replaced.
I don't envy you at all! Good luck!

2. Don't know how wet wet is |
|
but when I run into that in apartment buildings, water tanks go out and leak water all over. If it's really wet than you will want to pull the carpet back . You do that by going along the edges and break it away from the carpet tack strips Work yer way down aways than pull the carpet over ,the matt too. At a tool rental place you can rent ,fairly cheap a high power blower the same as pro's use to blow the air under yer carpet and matt. If that under padding is super saturated you may need to replace the bad part of it. On the other hand it may dry up ok. Sometimes a box fan will do it if the carpet is not too wet. If somebody at a tool rental knows about that blower, that person may be able to give you some insight on how to do it. It is pretty simple.
You will have to move fast on that -before mold sets in. I think the last time I rented one of those blowers it was about $30.00 for 24 hours, perhaps a little less.

Turned out to be a bigger job than I thought. We had to bring in pros.
