1. First off its .Net, not dot.net!
:P Seriously, that like saying PIN Number!

And I abandoned Microsoft's development studio when they went to .NET. I could never bring myself to see the 'features' of .Net as anything other than hindrances in the way of my code. Especially when dealing with XML.

It just strikes me as odd, what MS did with their development studio. They alienated 50% of their VB market, and muddled up their C. All in the name of making it 'enterprisey' which as near as I can tell, means making it easier for bad coders to release buggy software without having to learn the fundamentals.

Oh well.

Either way, enjoy yourself, as coding=life!

2. I never went there because of its lack of portability, however....
I had HOPED that MS would go TOWARD working with other systems, but EVERYTHING they release is INTENDED to FORCE people to not only use Windows, but to CONSTANTLY upgrade.... I have a lot of clients who use Mac and I personally use Linux servers.

**BUT THAT'S ME**

The FACT is that the DECISION MAKERS in software departments will continue to adopt the MS platform, and buy / develop vertical applications using whatever MS puts out...

For example, I shunned VB. I adopted POWERBUILDER due to its datawindow control, Mac portability, etc. BIG MISTAKE In terms of making a living, my time would have been better spent learning the ins and out of VB!

I went through the SAME DAMN MISTAKE with Borland Delphi.... I LOVED Delphi, but the MARKET did NOT.

The fact is that, as a developer, your time with MS will be WELL SPENT...

3. Its got staying power
Good choice going with C# (instead of VB.Net), it's has a strong place in the enterprise. We use it for our internal apps (anything that goes into the cloud is Java only). Enormous change for developers but it makes a powerful and rich "rapid" development environment. The best part is you can use it to make web services to communicate with any other platform. It'll be the #1 choice in the Windows world for years to come.

5. I have a DNN problem
Someone else set up the web site and I'm doing SEO. They set up a sort of flash entry, which is really more like a redirect. Anyways, I cannot find that entry graphic, the page, nothing. I know it's there somewhere because Google is picking up an incredibly stupid title for the web site. I've got to get it changed. The client is clueless, the designer is gone to parts unknown. Any help would be so very very much appreciated.

6. It's great - massive simplification over cpp for only a slight perf/portability price.
