Post your favorite guitar music/solos/riffs/tricks etc.
Doesn't have to be anybody famous. Nothing is too obscure or offbeat. As long as it's guitar oriented music, I'd like to hear it. :hi:

This performance of "Declan" by Jeff Beck is one of my favorites.

1. I'm just getting started!
Some more JB from the same concert. "Brush With The Blues"

This vid is a demo for an echo pedal or something. I thought it sounded pretty good.

16. Get thee to a record store (or DL) "Live At Ronnie Scott's"
An absolutely stunning album

Jeff Beck is the best guitar player out there. The only guitarist I've ever heard that was better was
the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughan.

And in case you think I exaggerate, I have also seen:

John McLaughlin
Laurindo Almeida
Jimmy Page
The Romeros
Carlos Santana
Robert Randolph
B. B. King
Dickey Betts
Audley Freed (sp?)

I know wherof I speak....

31. I was a casual Beck fan
Edited on Sat Jul-18-09 12:40 AM by KatyMan
for many many years until I saw this concert a few weeks ago. I honestly can't describe how awesome he is after watching this. His technique is extraordinary, it's not just playing without a pick, or playing fingerstyle--he grabs the guitar with both hands and wrings music out of it. It's truly extraordinary. To demonstrate, I choose his rendering of A Day In The Life. Now, you all don't know me, but I can tell you straight that I'm a huge--fucking huge--Beatles fan. As far as I'm concerned, if the Beatles played something, it's played, don't even try to improve on it. And to take such an iconic song as A Day In The Life is akin, in my mind, to blasphemy. And blasphemy is too TAME a word. Maybe I've had too many beers tonight and should just get on with it, so here's Jeff Beck, playing A Day In The Life as good as the Beatles did. Amazing.

"Is There Love In Space"

Albert King and Gary Moore playing "Stormy Monday". Two very different approaches to playing the Blues. They both sound good to me.

32. Jesus. Fucking. Christ.
Gary Moore is awesome. Not just in some hyperbolic way, but in the real way--watch this video and if your not amazed you're not paying attention. I thought at the beginning that he was not giving Albert King his due, but King plays, plays some awesome stuff. Moore comes in and just blows him away. I don't know how to feel about it, it IS like Moore is stealing King's music (so to speak), but jeebus it's much more tributary to King than I thought on first blush.

Gentle Giant - Memories of Old Days

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiiKv7-cp38

Sadly it's the only version of the song available on YouTube, and it's been edited down by several minutes. But, you will still hear a lot of the excellent guitar work on the song. :)

Not a big fan of them anymore but the solo in that song smokes.

Also,Jeb Puryear of Donna the Buffalo has a killer jam in live versions of his song Conscious Evolution.
