Been on a big Paul Oakenfold kick lately...
and I'm seeking some other similar artists. Also, I read thru kaitykaity's thread re: crystal method. Ministry is another fav, with my fav album being 'mind is a terrible thing to taste."

with those two references, any thoughts?

3. I just picked up his album
"Bunkka." Not bad at all. I'd been previously unaware of him. Thanks.

4. Massive Attack
They may not be as poppy or trance-ish as Oakenfold, but they're a must for ANY electronica fan. Also, check out Astral Projection if you're into the trance-ish stuff. Sasha and John Digweed, Rob Van Dyk, and Pete Tong aren't too bad for Oakenfold-ish stuff as well.

5. Wow!
Thanks for the lead on Massive Attack. Excellent stuff there and a good addition to my electronica library.

6. If you dig Massive Attack...
then definitely check out Tricky as well. Particularly his album entitled Maxinquaye.

Additionally, if you haven't checked out Portishead, er, where have you been?

7. Where have I been?
Well back in the 80's and early 90's I was into the alt rock/ electronic scene as I was doing a lot of clubbing and such. Then I went back to my roots and got back into my metal. I am essentially a metalhead and will always be but lately I am really getting back into electronica and especially my old industrial music, Cabaret Voltaire, Skinny Puppy, Ministry, Front 242 (softened over the years), Front Line Assembly, etc...

I'll check out Tricky and Portishead as well. I have heard of the latter.

8. If you have iTunes, you can find lots of good electronica streams
I you don't have iTunes, it's a free download, so why not give it a try?

Most of the streams have song/artist names as the tracks play ... or you can just listen and enjoy the free music.

9. iTunes is great
I've been addicted for quite some time now. Their selection is pretty good. There are only a few bands of which I wish they had more. And the sound quality is quite good. I don't use the MP3 encoding though. With my personal music I use Apple lossless encoding and obviously use their AAC protected mode when downloading.

10. Check out Hallucinogen & Shpongle
Oakenfold's version of LSD is a remix of a track originally done by Hallucinogen (Simon Posford), if I'm not mistaken. And someone named Ott did a third version for the In Dub album, which is a must-have. Then there's Eclipse: a Journey of Permanence & Impermanence, by various artists, including Shpongle (also Simon Posford, with Raja Ram of TIP records). Juno Reactor is pretty good, too.
