Victory for Mourning Doves in Michigan!!
snip:
We’ve won and won big for the doves, and in doing so have sent a resounding message to our elected officials in Lansing that Michiganders do NOT want a dove shooting season here! In fact, every county in the state voted against shooting doves, which means NO legislator can ever claim to be voting on behalf of their constituency if they ever vote again for shooting doves!

Check the results out here http://miboecfr.nictusa.com/election/results/06GEN/90000003.html

More Michigan Voters Vote No on Proposal 3 than Vote for Any Candidate or for or against Any Other Contested Ballot Proposal

No Vote on Proposal 3 Prevails in All 83 Michigan Counties

After 30 Years, Proposal 3 Settles Dove Shooting Issue Once and For All

1. an anti-hunting resolution passed in Michigan?
That's amazing!

And good news for the White-winged Doves currently hanging out up at Whitefish Point...

2. We have an unofficial dovecote in our backyard
Edited on Thu Nov-09-06 03:06 PM by patsified
My son thinks of it as his fort/swingset. Oh, well!

We are big dove lovers at our house, I guess the doves all know it! I love pulling up my kitchen window shade in the morning and watching the doves in the south garden stretch and come to life. And in the evenings, I enjoy watching them come "home" to roost for the evening. I'm so happy that the majority of Michiganders voted with me on this one.

(But I'm saddened to know that they felt that doves are more worthy of protection than fellow human beings who could use a break once in awhile.)
