I drove 6 hours yesterday to Sonora, CA. When I got there, I learned that it hadn't been seen all day. I waited at the pond until dark.

I was out there again at 6:30 this morning. The guy who found it told me that it had ALWAYS shown up by 7:30 AM. I waited until 8:30, then I left, figuring I may as well make the most of my trip. Spending the day at a duck pond sounded lame.

I got the call at 2:30 this afternoon. I was in Fresno heading south.

The bird showed at 9. If I had waited another half hour, I would have had it. :(

Oh, I looked again to get the url, and it's like I suggested to them, they were Coturnix Quail. :-)
