Starting Body-for-Life today
I used this method last year and lost 20 pounds. However, I convinced myself that I needed much more muscle and dirty-bulked the 20 pounds back on, some muscle some fat. I plan to stick with this plan then clean-bulk 10 pounds or so after that, mostly muscle. I hope I'm in time for beach weather. Wish me luck.

2. It's the Bill Phillips program of eating 6 small meals per day
Edited on Mon May-02-05 01:49 PM by MemphisTiger
and working out 6 days per week for 12 weeks. Alternating upperbody and lower body strength training with cardio in between

upperbody
cardio
lower body
cardio
upper body
cardio
off

every seven days are "cheat" days. This means that you can eat whatever you want and not workout. There is a web site www.bodyforlife.com, which is pretty informative.

BTW, just got back from the upper body workout. I should feel it in the morning.

3. While I've never strictly done Body-For-Life, it is a great program!!!!
and certainly inspired me a lot. Any time I need a little motivation I go reread the book.

Not updated much anymore, but have you seen this offshoot website of people's stories and before and afters?

Anyway -- GOOD LUCK!!! and keep us posted on your progress.

4. I recently finished the 12 weeks.
But I'm still sticking to it. I need to make an appt. at my gym to have my body fat measured. I have lost fat and put on muscle. I still have a little body fat. I would like to lose so that I can see all the muscle I have gained. I can't even say what size I am as it varies wildly with different brands.

What is "clean-bulk 10 pounds or so"? Is this something I should do?

And Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

6. In order to put on muscle, you must eat a surplus of calories
many people treat this as an excuse to eat anyting in site. Bulking is just a term used when you want to add muscle rather than shed fat. The best way to minimize fat gain is to eat basically the same food as your cut, losing fat, just more of it. So, I would like to gain 10 pounds of muscle with minimal fat. If you are interested in gaining muscle, a clean bulk is the way to go.

5. I ordered the Body for Life for Women book that just came out last month.
I've done the Body for Life program and I'm interested to see how this is designed for women.

Good luck!
