Exercise question (stationary bike) |
|
I found an exercise I can tolerate. At my gym there's a stationery bike with a back. I ride it for 60 minutes and read. I've reached the maximum tension and now am trying to build up my speed.
I've been doing this for about 8 weeks and, lately, my legs get a little achey. Is doing just one exercise (not counting the natural exercises that come with city living--walking, carrying groceries home, etc.) okay? I know I should to do a program, but every program I've tried makes me so bored that I quit altogether.
Any advice?
Thanks.

1. I think for cardio you're ok |
|
but you may want to use the leg abductor a few times per week. This will help you round out your leg workout and build leg muscles that the stationary bike doesn't.

2. If it hurts when you do that, don't do that. |
|
But that is not 100% true. There is an achy pain that means you are building strength. It is different from an injury pain. It is hard to describe the difference. Unfortunately, I had to learn by doing.
Too much repetitive movement tends to promote injury. It also depends on things like age, fitness level, duration and frequency of workouts and general constitution.
I don't know much about biking specifically, but it sounds like you are sticking to a routine and that is always most of the battle. As long as you are not working on an injury, sounds like you are doing great! :)
