1. Not today. Aiming for Wednesday. |
|
I've been recovering from a couple of really nasty bugs, and am still feeling a tad weak. Tonight we've got a late flight home, so I'll be going in to work tomorrow without much sleep. So the game plan is to get a good night's sleep Tuesday night and put in a light 5K run Wednesday night.
(Just figured that putting in writing might help make it happen.)

2. Started first day of deadlift peaking program |
|
6 weeks until my birthday. The weight goes up fast even if it is only for single reps. I'll see if I can keep up.

The Achilles tendon I injured a couple months ago was popping on me this morning, so I took it easy. 4 miles in 90 minutes, then I messed around with the balance ball (learning the new routine, so probably not terribly productive). I also moved stuff around in my office to prep for hanging wallpaper on Wednesday or Thursday.
In keeping with the food side: 1 breakfast burrito (1 fresh tortilla, 4 ounces lean ham, 1/2 c egg substitute, 1 ounce low-fat cheddar) and a V8 before I got started. Lunch was 1 cup cottage cheese, a lettuce and tomato salad with my version of ranch (i.e. non-fat sour cream and non-fat milk mixed with homemade ranch powder) and an apple. Supper was homemade Beef with Broccoli (and peppers, onions and mushrooms) over rice. Snack later will be yogurt to get my 3 servings of dairy in.
Daily totals were 1444 calories, 40 g fat, 160 mg cholesterol, 103 g protein.

6. hey, i'm getting going |
|
did a little yoga today. trying to get in shape while battling fibromyalgia. finally figured out that the 20-30 minutes that most people can start out with is too much for me. it just wears me out, and makes my joints hurt. so, 5 or 10 minutes for now is what i can do. for some reason bike riding agrees with me, and that is something i can do for a long time. but it is a little cold for that. i will be doing a few sessions with a physical therapist, working on learning appropriate exercises for me. after that i think i will go back to the y. maybe get a trainer for a while. mostly i have to get it through my thick head to do what i can do, and not always be knocking myself out. i'm always taking 2 steps forward and one back. got to start just taking the small step that i can take. period.

7. Can you use a stationary bike? |
|
I see them all the time for 25 or so at thrift stores (older ones, without the neato bells and whistles...)
Good luck and anything is better than nothing. One of my dearest friends has fibro, and she definitely has to build up, take it easy and know when to stop. But the more you do, the more you can do.

9. i am thinking about it |
|
i do see them all the time, too. i have a gazelle that i don't use, tho. i used it a few times before i started to get it through my thick head that a half hour is just not the place to start. i need to use it. i need to pick something that i want to watch on tv every morning, so that i have a time. (i let my hubby buy the big screen tv as long as i got an exercise machine to put in front of it. i just don't watch tv, tho.) part of the bike thing is that i do it when i am stressed out. it is such a great way to burn off that angst. especially in my beautiful and flat city. i did have a goal of a weekly bike ride, and did ok on that while it was warm enough. i am getting there. i have finally gotten some proper medical care. like an accurate dx (thanks to warpy, here on du. no thanks to the docs that made a couple of thou for scratching their collective heads), and correct meds. argh. so, i am on the road. not circling some cul de sac. yeehaw.

10. You might try something newsy.... |
|
My routine is the hour of Democracy Now (tivo'ed) and (right now) 2 episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer (until I finish season 3, then it will be an episode of BTVS and an episode of Angel.) That's assuming news doesn't make you crazy....
But I'm doing 2.5 hours these days (in part to prove a point to my Doctor, and in part to rehab my knees - I have nasty fragile tendons and ligaments....)

"Water" class, more mellow and less hot than the usual class I take. Had a GREAT class! :bounce:
Food so far: AM: A pear and tea and latte. Lunch: Lentils, a lo-fat mozzarella stick, and another pear.
And I'm enjoying my second latte of the day. So much for the no-carb. Maybe I'll just count calories, I've been doing well with that anyway.
