Monday, June 5: I worked out today. Did you? |
|
Did a leisurely three-quarter mile swim. I think my shoulder is loosening back up but I am not going to push it. Thanks to everyone for their concern!

Got to the gym early, practically deserted. Had an outstanding session for legs, back, abs.

3. I'm off to the gym in about an hour... not sure what I'll do. |
|
I'm tempted to go for a jog outside. It's been a while since we had the weather to do that.
As I posted last week, I had a terribly unproductive exercise week last week. I'm hoping to be back on track as of today, though I'm exhausted from an all-nighter I pulled last Friday.
I did learn at the all-nighter, that I am in no physical condition to do a triathlon this summer. I don't know how many laps in the pool make .5 mile, but I know that if it's more than one, I can't do it.
I will try to get some swimming in this summer, and maybe next spring I'll try again for the triathlon.
In the meantime, I am going to start training for a 10K race. My longest ever distance so far is 4.5 miles, so I still have to pull off 1.7 miles on top of that... somehow. This 10K will be in October.

4. When I first started swimming again as an adult |
|
I would do fifteen minutes of breast stroke (a resting stroke) and thought it would kill me. But I was able to increase gradually. When I thought I was ready for free-style, I paid for a couple lessons so I wouldn't start off with bad habits. The lessons corrected and improved my stroke from the outset.
Good luck! :hi:

I jogged 2.5 miles and then did an upper-body workout. (For this particular upper-body workout I added weights and did fewer reps. I'm going to try to do that all week, and then next week drop the weight and add a lot of reps. I'm trying to keep my body guessing so that it doesn't settle into a a place where it just maintains... I want more results.)

I worked out at home in the garage until the mosquitos started eating me alive. I need to buy one of those mosquito magnet things.
