I will exercise up to the big day
of surgery, that is. I'm scheduled for hernia repair surgery next week. Finally my parents have no medical emergencies or other needs that require my attention. I have 2 other brothers--that's another story. Completed the pre-op examination and registration yesterday. Got home in time to run 4 miles.

My younger brother had hernia repair surgery this past summer. He's taking me to and from the hospital. He painted a pretty grim picture of pain, discomfort, and slow recovery. But he is rather underfit for someone that is not overweight. He can't touch his toes (yes, he's that inflexible), and I doubt that he could run a mile. I'm counting on my greater fitness level and knowledge to minimize my discomfort and shorten my recovery time. I'll have taichi to work on until I can hit the gym again.

Until then, I train. This afternoon's workout, step aerobics and taichi (taijiquan).

1. Good luck!
Just be sure not to overdo while you're recovering. Pay attention to what your body tells you and the recovery will go faster.

2. Couldn't work out over the weekend
due to the rain and cleaning house. Worked out yesterday, cardio kickboxing routine at the gym. Today will be the interval training routine and taichi.

Tomorrow's the big day.

5. Best of luck to you
I bet that your fitness level will help you, as will your tai chi practice. I practice qigong myself, and I think it's been quite beneficial for me. All the best to you for a speedy recovery!

6. Thanks much
getting around isn't as bad as I thought, but bad enough. I will be doing the meditations.

You practice qigong? excellent! It is very good for the body and mind. :hi:
