Is there a best time for a workout?
Most people workout when they have time, after work or something like that. But I have also heard that working at at certain times may yield better results than others. For example-I was told work out before a meal because it will aid in dampening the appetite and one may be inclined to eat less. I have also bee told just the opposite. Some say in the morning in that it will add a slight metabolic boost to your day. Some praise the practice of working out before retiring for sleep benefits.

Can anyone shine a light for someone sort of lost in the darkness?

Thanx in advance.

1. did someone say "shine"?
:D
seriously, i think the best time for a workout is whenever YOU have the time to do it. for many of us, given our hectic schedules, it just comes down to a matter of logistics and availability.

I tend to go first thing in the morning, right after I've dropped off the kids at school. It helps to get it done early, so I get the rest of day to handle other stuff.

:hi:

2. Depends on your goals.
The times differ for strength training, fat burning or endurance.

That said, it also depends on when the person is at their best working out. If one isn't a morning person, a morning workout may not be best. If one is a real night owl or a bit of a recluse, they'd likely benefit from a 24 hour gym.

3. No particular time
though some studies might have suggested late afternoon/early evening.

If you google "best time to exercise," lots of info there.

Here's one:

4. The best time for a work out
is when you have the time to work out and it's the most convenient to do so. That way you'll be the least inclined to have to miss a day.
