Lincoln-AK, Nelsons of Neb and Fl, & Bacaus of Mont killing Estate Tax?

Reward for the Hereditary Elite . . .

By Sebastian Mallaby

<snip>But now the House has voted to repeal the estate tax, and the Senate may do the same this week. Republicans are picking up support from renegade Democrats, such as Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, Bill Nelson of Florida, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Max Baucus of Montana. Several more may go over to the dark side if a "compromise" bill, which would achieve nearly everything that abolitionists dream of, is introduced in the Senate. President Bush, who has already muscled a temporary repeal of the estate tax into law, would be delighted to sign a bill making abolition permanent.<snip>

1. Why doesn't Baucus just become a Republican?
He also gave us the disasterous Medicare "reform" bill along with John Breaux.

that is to say it is a no brainer - unless you are owned - via campaign donations say - by one or more of the very super rich - at which point why are you a Dem?

5. i emailed bill nelson about this a while back.
i work for probate attorneys and told him that, contrary to bushevik rhetoric, repealing the estate tax does not benefit anyone but the very rich. he is still supporting repeal. wish we could replace him with a progressive but, for now, he has to beat katherine harris.
