Kansas Advanced Voting
Edited on Mon Nov-06-06 04:31 PM by maxcass
Well, I went to vote at my courthouse this morning for the advanced voting. I was quite amazed at how busy it was! Normally, you can walk right in and vote within 5 minutes be done and leaving. This time there was quite a line and an even longer line after I was done. There were quite a few people there talking about how they never miss a vote but that this one was so much more important to them. I'm thinking a lot of people in my area are definitely voting democrat judging by the conversations. A lot of people wanted to take advantage of the advanced voting so they wouldn't have to wait so long tomorrow.

I thought you'd all appreciate this, a lady that I was talking to in line said that her husband wish she would just do an absentee ballot and she said not a chance. She said she has to wait til the day before or day of election because what if a late breaking news story comes out saying something horrible about her choice...she said "I can see it, I'll see that this guy is a murderer or something last minute and have to go oh great I voted for him." It was so cute the way she said it because she was such a cute little elderly woman.

Well good luck with the vote all!! Hope it goes smooth in your areas.

Just wanted to add one more thing, the system was different than I have seen in the past. They use to use like big books and find your name in the alphabet on paper in these books now they look it up on a computer. Granted they have only one computer so it takes a bit longer to get through it all. Then I noticed that you signed two different items one was the basic sign book they've always had and one was a separate sheet of paper that you had to sign and date. I'm not sure what the purpose of that was and have never had to do that before. The ballots were the writing ballots where you use a black marker and then slide it into one of those optical scan boxes...No diebold machines in my area yet. Just wanted to add that.
