Nancy Pelosi's performance as speaker? |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-03-08 12:19 PM by Ah Xoc Kin
What's your opinion of Pelosi as speaker? http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/mood_of_america/congressional_performance/congressional_performanceJust 37% of Democrats say they have a favorable opinion of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, while 51% have an unfavorable view of her. One-quarter (25%) of Democrats rate their view of the San Francisco Democrat as Very Favorable, but 14% see her in a Very Unfavorable light.

12. Is the Majority leader of the House and the Assistant Majority leader of the Senate fine? |
|
I don't know much about Steny Hoyer, but would he be better than Pelosi?
I think Dick Durbin would be a good Majority Leader, but I don't much about him either.

21. UNITY! Destroy the Repukes first, THEN clean house! |
|
Democrats shouldn't even be talking about their own party so long as there's a single Repuke left in America.

She is always way behind the beat. Congress should have introduced legislation to deal with this impending crisis months and months ago. They should have changed that draconian bankruptcy bill the moment they got into office. That would have been the way to stop the foreclosures.

6. Once again, the antipelosi crowd never... |
|
comes up with an objective criteria for Speaker performance, or compares Pelosi with other past speakers.
The hatred, or at least disappointment, with Pelosi is simply that she has not managed to meet the high standards that some completely outside of the loop have set for her. Standards which include objectives not only highly improbable she could bring about, but others which are very likely illegal.
Well, if not meeting a standard of performance that you have dreamed up is the measure-- you'll never have a politician, much less Speaker, that you approve of.

8. How about "Impeachment is off the table" for starters |
|
Add to that the fact that she's caved to Bush on pretty much every piece of legislation he's opposed, and sided with him on nearly every he's supported. She also didn't aggressively work to end the war.

18. Pelosi taking impeachment of Bush off table is unforgivable |
|
This was a moment in time where the Democratic party could stand up and say we will not sit idly by while the President of the United States willfully and knowingly violates the constitution. By not acting in bringing impeachment proceedings to the floor, the Pelosi led Democratic party has set the stage for future Presidents to proceed in the same manner. Pelosi directly refused to bring up impeachment proceedings for political reasons, thinking we would get more Democrats elected without the proceedings. This is an outrageous lack of leadership and a sellout of the American people. It matters not whether an impeachment would be successful, it mattered to show which Congressmen believe in the rule of law and which will allow a dictatorship, the Constitution be damned.

I think she did Obama a big solid by making the bailout fail while not taking credit for making it fail after McCain tried to be a hero and carry it on his back. Its failure because of his party (which she surely helped bring about) was embarrassing and politically damaging. I think that was worth her entire time as Speaker if Obama gets elected.

20. I would like to see Nancy Pelosi investigated. I want to know whether or not she and her husband... |

...are profiting from not holding this White house accountable. When I saw that her husband's name was on the 2008 Bohemian Grove guess list, I felt like I was kicked in the stomach.
