Republicans Accuse Obama of Politicizing Gulf Oil Spill to Pass Energy Bill
Seriously, how many different ways are Republicans going to find to try and hemorrhage a climate bill?

The GOP is up in arms because they believe that President Obama and the Democrat-controlled Congress are politicizing the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico in an effort to pass climate change legislation through the Senate.

After being unveiled in early May by Senators John Kerry and Joseph Lieberman, the American Power Act has been stalled in the Senate waiting for support from both parties. The Republicans are now accusing the President of trying to bully them into supporting the bill by using the BP oil spill as a lighting rod to draw more to their cause.

3. DUH!
You've had your head in the sand if you didn't know it would be used to the maximum extent possible for political gain as soon as it happened.

5. Gotta love it!
Republicans politicize the disaster by claiming Obama is politicizing the disaster!

Another fine example of how Republicans so readily accuse Democrats of the kinds of things they themselves would do. There's a psychological term for that, but I can't remember what it is -- like when someone is constantly accusing their spouse of cheating, because in reality they themselves are cheaters.

9. "Game changing" events sort of transcend politics...
Wouldn't that be like accusing the mayor of Chicago of "politicizing" the Great Chicago Fire in order to pass newer, better building codes? Okay, not a perfect analogy, and I certainly don't know how Chicago's mayor responded to that historic event, but still -- it seems the devastation of such a "game changing" event is itself the reason that the game must be changed, politics aside.
