Tears are running down my cheeks
I have just witnessed the senate confirm Mukasey as attorney general. How depressing.
To see our elected body tell this criminal president that it is ok to torture people is just unbelievable.
They just said that it is ok to kidnap you, place you in prison, allow you to talk to no one and torture you until you give them the answers that they want. Unbelievable.

America as you and I know it has this 11th day of November, 2007 ceased to exist. I don't know what else to say.
Yes I do.
These mother fuckers took an oath to protect the constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.
SO DID I. When I joined the army in 1962, I took the same oath. I figure that oath still stands today. I assume that all other veterans feel the same as I.

OK veterans, get off your ass and protest this attorney general and call for the impeachment of bush and cheney.

We are losing our country to the neocon elite. Please help stop it!!
PLEASE

It means very little.

Pick your battles and dry your tears.

4. Huh?
"It means very little."??? "Pick your battles and dry your tears"??? FUUUUUUUCK that shit. America tortures now. Jesus fucking Christ, if you're not angrier than hell or weeping right now, then you're part of the problem. Honestly, saying shit like that only makes people feel worse. I picked my battles 7 years ago, and it was really nice to find out how many apathetic, do-nothing fucks live in this country proclaiming to be true Americans. And it's come to this. America is a facist fucking dictatorship no better than Hitler's Germany right now other than we have a slightly less body count at the moment. This is just incredible and still people here at DU are telling us to calm down and 'get over it' and 'chill out'. I'll stop there, because if I said what I wanted to say, I'd be banned.

5. yeah, no big deal....

torture smoture. All this fuss over water boarding, just because a bunch of sissies can't handle a few drops of water on the face.

So, we now got an AG who will not acknowledge that making a person think he or she is drowning is torture. Just what we need in the Justice Department.

Anyone who think this means very little needs to WAKE UP !!!

2. Right there with you.
Some people on this board clearly don't understand what's happening to our country (hence the ridiculous "get a grip" post).

Welcome to DU. :hi:

7. The "get a grip" poster, being Canadian, probably has a
different point of view than do we with a more personal investment in the bush tragedy.

and south and east and west. He's too much of a catastrophe to stay within our borders.

9. Like the creeping slime monster--
Brings up an interesting picture - the "bush tragedy" as the ultimate biological weapon. If they reach any sort of critical mass, your country's doomed.

3. I'm angry as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore.
I've had it with the craven, pathetic, despicable cowards festering in the cesspools of Congress and the White House. It's time to flush these turds.

12. Why do we confirm this kind of individuals?
Mukasey is a thread to the Republic. Plain and simple.

13. This is sad, but...
It should motivate you!
Join your local democratic congressman or senators campaign.
Take a car load of non-voters to the polls in November,
Fundraise, blog, be proactive.
I might be buying 20-30 people drinks, afterwards, but Im taking them to the polls to vote straight ticket democrat before!
