10. Okay.
Did you get to hear Nancy doing Kuby's show today? I think she's subbing for Randi tomorrow and Friday.

13. I don't get his show.
so I'll have to listen to her sub for Randi.

Jonathan Alter articulated what I'd been noticing about Dim Son. If he's have acted half as well during the rest of his presidency as he has since the transition began, maybe my agita over the last eight years wouldn't have been so bad.

20. I had to stream her today -- I never heard of Kuby until last week
on one of our threads. Then right after the show (she was in New York doing it) she cabbed it over to be on Faux Business with Cavuto. She called me from the cab on her way there. I thought she did great.

74. I will listen to her sub for Randi the rest of the week.
Sounds cool.

And let's face it, it's easy for * to be president now. All he has to do is what so many white guys did for so many years: kick back and let a black guy do the work.

16. We're on the same wavelength.
I'm trying to make Keith's pie. Way, WAY too many graham cracker crumbs vs. melted butter--the crust is way too crumbly, I think. I probably fucked it up royally. Not only that, but there doesn't appear to be a damned thing for sale in this part of the world resembling a "deep" enough pie pan to hold it. Where does Martha GET these ideas from??

Oh, I forgot, she has her own line of cookware made for her. :-(

She probably knows how to zap a Lean Cuisine and that's it. Otherwise, why would their GAS be turned off for lack of use?!?!?

He should be able to cook too, as far as I'm concerned. Instead, he's nearly fifty years old, and still acts like he can't boil water. Great preparation for marriage and children, Keith...Not. :-(

19. I like those cards
except it's my pie that's about to bring shame to me.

Something tells me that when Martha says the crust calls for about 16 "graham crackers," she means 16 AFTER you break them up into squares...NOT 16 of the individual flats they're cut into before wrapping in the box. She should SAY so, dammit. If Keith tried to make the recipe this way, he'd give up too. Just start licking the chocolate off his hairy hands.

Hmm, sounds like an idea...

And all the histrionic threads about Thomas picking that stupid birth certificate case
there was a thread this past weekend that I am still stunned wasn't locked...the OP claimed to be for Obama, but every time someone posted something rational & in plain English, she'd say "it still wasn't clear enough for (her)." :wtf:

and then there was the DU DQ thread from last night about low income housing & how we're all horrible people because we ask questions like "does your friend's boyfriend pay the rent?"

68. As a person with a sister who managed to make it through beauty school
Edited on Wed Nov-26-08 09:06 PM by BerryBush
while still living with our mother who was entirely against it but went along with it because she felt she was helpless to stop it, and whose sister did manage to find gainful employment after graduating, and whose sister has been able to afford her own apartment ever since, I could have told her a thing or two.

But she would not have listened.

Oh, and she paid for beauty school by working a crappy waitressing job in addition to her crappy retail job.

51. Oh, I posted to that one. I feel for ya, sister.
There are none so helpless as those who stubbornly cling to and insist on their own helplessness.

That is one such person.

Reminds me of the story about the guy clinging to a rooftop during a flood who resisted rescue offers from three guys in boats, saying "No thanks, I'll wait, the Lord will rescue me." Eventually boats stopped coming by, and the water got too high and he drowned. When he ended up at the Pearly Gates, he said "God, why didn't you come rescue me?" and God said "I DID. I sent THREE BOATS..."

22. Hey, DG
:hi:

Yeah, I've noticed. People are freaking out too much about Obama's picks so far. I trust him and think he's doing a great job. Even my father thinks he's making good picks (of course that isn't necessarily a good sign). He thought maybe I'd be upset like a lot in the "far left." I told him this is proof I'm not the "far left." It's right wing propaganda that Barack is far left. I've always known he's more of a centrist, so I'm not disappointed.

56. All I can say is, if people think HE would have handled a confrontation with big business
the likes of which we have now more successfully than Obama, well, they should have been here in 1978.

China would call us on all our loans, and the whole country would go into default, while Dennis stood and railed on TV about how he had taken a brave stance "for the American people against those Chinese corporate fatcats," while the people starved.

Frankly, it sucked donkey dicks.

They still can't articulate exactly what it is that I've done that needs to remove me/give me a time-out. My brother was there with me, and I'm glad because he told me he thinks they're fucked up.

The long and short of it: the bishop is thinking of putting me on leave, whether "spiritual renewal" or "incapacity" leave, effective January 1. Happy F'ing birthday, Ruth!

Oh, and they want me to get my counselor to write to them addressing questions they have about my ability to do ministry. I feel like the damned turkey, being asked to go out and sharpen the blade before I sit down at the table.

It ain't over yet.... they don't know how nasty I can get when I'm royally pissed off.

78. What I find amusing about microwaves:
It doesn't matter which brand of microwave popcorn you buy or what size the bag, they all tell you approximately how long you should cook the bag and then always caution that it may take more actual time or less to pop based on your individual machine, and that you should stop it whenever the pops die down to only one every few seconds and not wait any longer lest it burn. And they ALL say, to a man, "Do NOT use the Popcorn key on your machine."

Someday, the microwave manufacturers will realize what a utterly useless feature it is, and stop making machines with it, because nobody uses it. It's like that joke about the control panel with the big red button on it that says "DO NOT PUSH THIS BUTTON." Of course, in movies and cartoons, someone ALWAYS pushes that button, just to see what will happen. And it's always disastrous.
