Palin on Olbermann: ‘THAT guy is EVIL!’»
Right-winger John Ziegler — who is waging a one-man crusade to prove that President-elect Obama won the election solely because of “media bias” — recently interviewed Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK). In a gushing description published on a new website devoted to making Hollywood more conservative, Ziegler details Palin’s reaction to seeing a photo of MSNBC host Keith Olbermann:

hen she looked at the back cover of my first film…and saw the photo of one of the film’s targets, Keith Olbermann, she literally let out a shriek and, pointing to his photograph, declared, “THAT guy is EVIL!”

Ziegler wrote that, after the interview, “I know, with moral certitude, that the media assassination of , her character and family, was one of the greatest public injustices of our time.”

UpdateIn an excerpt of the interview Ziegler posted to YouTube, Palin blamed her campaign for the disastrous Katie Couric interviews:
PALIN: My question to the campaign was after it didn't go well the first day, why were we going to go back for more? And because of however it works in, you know, that upper echelon of power brokering in the media and with spokespersons and all, it was told me that yeah we were gonna go back for more. And going back for more was not a wise decision either.

1. I had to laugh seeing this on the show tonight.
It didn't escape my notice that Keith called Ziegler by the absolute worst, most damning epithet in the entire Keith Olbermann vocabulary...that is, he called Ziegler the absolute worst, most insulting, most withering thing Keith can think of to ever call anybody...the thing he only calls them when he really, really wants to twist the knife in, and twist it in deep.

That's right.

He called Mr. Ziegler a "failed sportscaster."

2. 9 minutes?
9 seconds would've been more like it. Well, looks like she ain't going anywhere anytime soon so we may as well get used to it.

3. I don't know. Maybe the more we talk about her, the more we legitimize her.
You know how much the Repugs hate Al Franken? That's how much we are annoyed by Sarah. But in a way, all that dislike just empowered Franken and he might end up being seated in the Senate one of these here days. He knew how to use negativity to fuel the fire of his own supporters.

I worry that someone will come along who will be able to do that for Palin. Oh, she'll never figure it out for herself, she's too stupid for that. But give a Bush a Rove, and you'd be amazed at what can happen.

Right now, all Sarah needs is a Rove. If she gets one, she can become far more dangerous than we ever imagined.

Don't get me wrong, I think maybe the kind of thinking that put people like her in office has been destroyed at last and good riddance. But man, Obama better do his job and prove his theories right, because if he for some reason doesn't, there's a little kernel of people out there who are eating up what Sarah sells with a big spoon--and all it will take is someone like a Lee Atwater or a Karl Rove (maybe it will BE Rove) to figure out how to package her in a way that will make all our nightmares come true.

They couldn't do it in 2008--the time was too short and the moment in history was wrong. After eight years of Bush and especially the consequences of Reaganomics finally coming home to roost, it's possible that this country would have elected Keith's proverbial monkey smoking a cigar if he had been put up against ANY Republican. And to put a guy like Obama up against McCain and Palin seems now, in safe retrospect, like a laughably guaranteed way to fail.

But we don't know what it will be like in 2012. All we know for sure is that Palin will have had four more years to sort herself out--or for someone else to help her do it.

And sometimes, that scares me. Because right after the election, I thought "Now if only people stop talking about her, she'll fade away into obscurity." But no--because she knows how to grab a spotlight and keep blaming everyone else for her problems, people keep paying attention, listening and laughing. Keith especially, because Keith NEVER gets tired of ridiculing the patently stupid. He's the game commissioner of the sport of rifle-assisted barrel fishing.

When does the backlash eventually happen? When do people finally get tired of Sarah Palin being laughed at and start being sympathetic to her instead? How long before a really large group of people (as opposed to the small group of fanatics she has today) gets behind her in part just because they're sick of seeing her ridiculed and, well, she's just a regular gal?

That's the danger I worry about. I laugh at Sarah's latest nonsense, but when I do, I do it wondering when she's going to make her big comeback--a comeback I sometimes fear will be inadvertently fueled by Keith, and us.

Sorry. Worrying comes second nature to me. :-)
