Most annoying posts this week...
To you what were the most annoying comments you heard this past week here in DU?
I know there are so many to choose from like the ridiculous articles that accuse Jews of collaborating with the Nazis, posts questioning the loyalty of American Jews, quotes from some Duers writing things like "Bush the Jewish president", etc.

I found really annoying the (now all deleted, thanks to our mods!) posts with the "Jewish lobby controls US government" comments in the I/P forum after the news that 96% of Democrats in the house voted in support of the resolution condemning the recent attacks against the State of Israel, holding terrorists and their state-sponsors accountable for such attacks, supporting Israel’s right to defend itself, etc. And the comparison of this vote to the IWR was also annoying.

Note that over 80% of American Jews vote Democrat, that the majority of American Jews opposed the Iraq war (more were against it than in the general population), and that American Jews have been enormously important in securing civil liberties for all Americans. Also important is the fact that Israel has been a faithful ally of the U.S. and deserves our support in ensuring her security.

"Oh, the N word doesn't mean the same thing it used to...."

2. AMEN!
I am so pissed at the idea that Jewish people don't know what anti-Semitism is. Of course what pisses me off any more is the stupid "anti-Semitism means discrimination against Arabs, too!" I am also pissed at the "prove it!" remarks from the idiots that think anti-Semitism isn't being spewed all over the discussion forums! The mods have done a good job, but I am at the point that I would request that they set up a special room just to display the shit that has made its way on to DU!

3. antisemitism...
Defined by the The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language:

an·ti-Sem·i·tism (n.)

1. Hostility toward or prejudice against Jews or Judaism.
2. Discrimination against Jews.

Defined by WordNet 2.0, © 2003 Princeton University:

antisemitism

anti-Semitism n : the intense dislike for and prejudice against Jewish people

I couldn't find any mention of hostility toward or prejudice against Arabs being defined as antisemitism and I personally don't know any other use for the word. The crap about "anti-Semitism means discrimination against Arabs, too!" also pisses me off.

4. and there it is...
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 04:48 AM by Behind the Aegis
I maintain that anyone that engages in the argument that antisemitism is anything other than discrimination against Jews, is either intellectually dishonest or an anti-semite themselves!

what the I\P room was designed for. I can't tell the difference between GD,GDP and IP.

I can't tolerate going into those rooms. The ignorance and hatred just gets my blood pressure boiling.

(I do appreciate how you have been handling many of the Israel-bashers lately. you're very cool)

12. I/P
I/P was designed for the very reason that we are now seeing. I wasn't here before the I/P, but apparently it was very much like what it is now...a bloodbath. The choices were to not allow any discussion on the topic, or to create a special forum, with special rules...thus, I/P was born.

I find it very disturbing that so many here are so far away from the democratic stance on Israel. Some here are simply anti-Israeli bigots! Then, of course, we also have those who are simply anti-Semitic, but get to hideout among the progressive under the guise of being anti-Israeli policy. , but they usually end up revealing their true identities eventually.

Thanks for the kudos. I seem to strike fear into some. LOL! Most think I am a paid operative...if so, then someone owes me some damn back pay! My favorite is when one poster, who is no longer among us, said I worked for the Mossad! As if the Mossad has nothing better to do than play "keyboard commando!" LOL! Granted, there are times when I lose my cool, but considering some of the things I have seen....well, let's just say I had no idea that steam really can come out of one's ears! ;)

6. This one takes the cake!
Since it is locked, but not "disappeared," I feel I can post it.

Why should any of us care about Israel now? A whole country for a religious sect is an anomaly. Israel has been an experiment that went horribly wrong. Israel and the Zionist Jews have learned nothing in 50 years except how to be the most paranoid, cruel and brain-washed people on the planet. Who would care to wager that we have now seen the worst - the most illegal, barbarous, inhumane, insane - behaviour that Israel is capable of? I am sure that Israel is even now planning greater crimes and atrocities, in which thousands more innocent non-Jews will die. Let Israel be dismantled as a country. Let the Jews be dispersed again. Restore Palestine.*

What is even sadder? In the few minutes it (the thread) had life, FIVE people voted it to "DU's Greatest Page!"

*Purile filth

7. I just finished reading that thread out there
Not that I think there aren't people like that here in the US, but I'm kind of glad that ass is in Britain. OTOH, I'm sorry for the British Jews that they have to put up with someone like that. 'Tis a jungle out there. Fortunately we can hide out here.

8. If you'll pardon an observation from a gentile ...
... One of the reasons I, as a Brit, feel that Israel needs more understanding and friendship from the European left is that anti-semitism here and in Europe is far more overt and on the rise. And it saddens me to say that a lot of it comes from the left. Some people seem to have forgotten NEVER FORGET didn't come with an expiry date.

9. I understand
I don't blame all the Brits, for sure. I've visited Britain and I like it and the British people. I guess all I was trying to say is that we've got enough people like that on our side of the Atlantic, so I was a little relieved there is one less than I thought. Thanks for your support. It means a lot.

10. Threads like these have been getting a lot of votes...
...for the "DU Greatest Page" lately. I have noticed that many threads with this kind of tone get many votes before they are locked by the mods. God bless the moderators here in DU! :-)

11. All this confirms for me...
...that a few here are openly discriminatory toward Israel, and a few others, are just plain ol' Jew-hating bastards! It explains, in my opinion, why so many wanted to keep this situation in the main rooms and not just I/P, which has much stricter rules, including not being able to be placed on the "Greatest page." I have to say I appreciate the Jew-haters that come out and say it, as opposed to those that hide behind rhetoric, until they slip up, and quite a few have.

The mods definitely have their work cut out for them. Hopefully, the hate will die down, and we won't lose any more Jewish posters.

Absolutely sickening. Perhaps they would like to join the Taliban and live under Sharia law?

18. I've been thinking lately of packing-up the family and going to Israel
I'd rather take my chances on the front lines against Hezbollah than worry about my fellow Americans, especially if DU is what passes for tolerance and progressivism.

Is this REALLY the best we can do?
