Had a sleep apnea test performed at the hospital. During the night
they hooked me up to a CPAP machine, and I believe my doctor is getting a report that I need a cpap.

I have read up on this on the internet, but wondering if any of you had stories about this machine. If I feel as good as I did the day after this test, then I cannot wait to get a machine for home.

Turning in now, have to get up at 4:00, but will check back.
Thanks.

1. My husband has one. He wouldn't have known he had a problem
unless I had complained so much. Another doctor wouldn't test him -- he asked my husband if his snoring bothered him, or only me. (You can guess what my husband answered.) A few years later, I finally talked him into asking another doctor, and that doctor was more enlightened. The test was done and they told him he'd stopped breathing about a zillion times (more or less). So he got the machine.

About a month later, he had to bring the machine back because there was a little malfunction. He admitted to me then that he had really noticed the difference. He had no idea that he was having breathing problems until he saw how much better he felt when he used the CPAP.

Good luck! I hope it works out as well for you has my husband -- who has been using it for a few years now, without ever seeming to be bothered by it.

2. I have one. It works well
although I also take meds for my apnea. CPAP+meds (Provigil) work well for me

3. My fiance is going in for his sleep test tomorrow night.
We're hoping that his experience will go well too. Glad to hear the CPAP is working, as are the meds.

4. Thanks everyone. Appreciate the input. I got my CPAP machine
tonight. I can't wait to go to bed tonight...Funny the small pleasures when you are over 60. LOL

I definitely need MORE energy. I have been to so many doctors, and in the hospital that I'm beginning to think I need a shrink, cuz they can never find anything wrong.

I'm Not real thrilled with the mask...in 10 years they'll invent some pellet that you stick in your nose...but they have improved soo much over the last 10 years, so I hear.

Flaming, I hope your fiance does ok... Thanks all.

5. fitted and sold CPAPS for many years....
the trick to compliance is the fit of the mask...if you're not happy with it and get no response CHANGE supplier!!!! There are so many other alternatives now.

what amazing things happened to my patients...life changing things. good luck!
