Finger-prickers! Good news for us (IMHO): Target has 33 gauge
lancets at a great price--less than $6.00 for 200.

That's way less than the BD 33 gauge for which I've been paying about $10 for 100.

1. Confession time
I have been using the same box of lancets for, well, years.

I never change those damn things until you need a hammer to get them in. Nothing but laziness, honestly, but I've never really had a problem.

2. Same here
A box of lancets lasts me a long long time. I change needles every second day, that's four times using each one, and I've had no problems there. I did bump into a guy on a diabetes board, I think it was on WebMD, who said he just keeps using the same needle until it hurts too much. I hope he was kidding.

5. O.M.G.!!!! That's gotta hurt after a while...
I've seen in a microscope what a re-used lancet looks like... it is not pretty.

6. I've had diabetes so long
I don't think I have much left in the way of nerve endings.

8. Heh, same here.
Usually when my husband bugs me to because he notices me re-pricking when the first poke fails to draw blood...

9. Thank G-d!
I was starting to feel so lonely! LOL!

I had received several boxes of lancets at Scientific Sessions meeting I was covering years and years ago. I don't think I have ever actually PURCHASED a box of lancets, actually.

I went and looked at them and they don't even say what gauge they are because back then you didn't have any options.

Maybe I'll treat myself! hehehe (Wondering if these things will even go into my obviously abused fingertips!)

4. This is great news. We use the 33 gauge.
I don't have diabetes, but both my boys do and I have tried every lancet out there to see which ones really hurt the least. These BD 33 gauge are the best.

7. See? It's been so long
since I bought lancets, I didn't even know they MADE a 33 gauge.

I think mine are 23. I don't know if I could even bleed with a 33 gauge lancet.
