Well, I fell today.
And I'm kind of glad I got it out of the way! Mr. Longhorn and I loaded up the bikes and did a 12-mile loop of rolling hill country called the Mt. Gaynor Loop, mapped out by the Austin Cycling Association. It's a great ride! Anyway, going up the first big hill, Mr. Longhorn's chain popped so I stopped to wait for him. I unclipped on the right and proceeded to fall to my left. Except for a very small scrape on my left elbow (no blood,) I was unhurt. But I now realize that I need to unclip on the left because I normally stop with my right foot down. I also unclipped both feet a lot on the ride.

I had been sort of dreading falling ever since I started riding so now that I've done it and it wasn't so bad, maybe I'll quit worrying about it. The good news is that I got really good at clipping in and had no more trouble unclipping. And it was an absolutely beautiful day -- clear, blue skies, temps in the low 70s at most, wildflowers everywhere, not to mention goats, and sheep, and even LONGHORNS! This loop follows a creek that has low-water crossings and beautiful waterfalls and we've had a lot of rain this spring so there was plenty of water flowing. We both were very happy to enjoy the scenery from a bike! Then we stopped in town for Mexican food and came home to a preheated hot tub. If our Spurs beat the Nuggets tonight, it will have been a perfect day. :D

1. Didn't hurt too bad, did it?
I fell just the other week. Pulled off to get a good full drink of Gatorade, popped out my left foot, stopped, and promptly lost my balance and fell to the right...Didn't hurt too bad. At least I didn't get cut this time.
