2. I agree! I thought there would be more than a few |
|
weather nerds on this board. Climate change is a big issue these days.
I'm on vacation, or I would write more, but will when I get back next week.
Kick! :kick:

4. When people die - they will come... |
|
Weather is only interesting to the masses when disaster strikes...
It's the short-attention-span sitcom...watch the people tell their stories of woe...and scramble to get the hell outta Dodge.
Unless you happen to be in the middle of the shit when it happens...
Then it loses the fun factor...

5. That is certianly true. |
|
But I find it hard to believe that out of 70,000+ members that only 6 or 7 of us are weather freaks. We just need to reach the rest.

Feel free to use us as a sounding board. I personally am in a snit that we didn't get hardly any storm here after days of hype and hoopla.
I guess it would get old after about the 5th hit, though.

4 of them last year was enough. Funny thing that it hasn't hit the housing market. People are moving in droves down here. I can imagine what it costs to heat a home up north last winter.

Thanks... I'll be here often, can't stay away. Storms amaze me, although I'm completely chicken shit when I'm in one. Figure that out and then let me know why LOL!
I'm on LI, NY exactly 7 miles from Jones Beach, still in the same town though (wantagh). Our flood lines in a Cat.3 Hurricane go exactly one mile south. Seeing the size of Dennis, completely covering FL, I wouldn't think we'd be able to handle it well if it were here. We are WAY smaller than FL. Lakes, inlets, canals EVERYWHERE... A CAT 4 would destroy us.
The New England Hurricane of 1926 (I believe that was the year) was a killer. Literally. The Shinnecock canal used to be a town. Many people drowned. The way I figure it is we are way past due. How long before we are blasted... I wonder.

Hurricanes in NY seem oddly placed. I'm surprised they make it up there at all.

9. I just moved from Missouri to Gulfport, MS |
|
I'm having to use my daughter's computer so I have limited posting ability.
Wondering if I'm going to have to take shelter at the VA.
Hopefully, my computer will be up today so I can post some pictures. I'll be heading to the beach in a little while.

Blue sky, sunny day today. A few thunderheads rising up, but they look like typical afternoon thunderstorm clouds.

I'm happy that Dennis was a dud and not the menace he initially looked like. It's disturbing though that such a storm is happening so early into hurricane season. Scary portent of potential weather to come?

22. I had enough excitement last year to last a life time. I want to be bored. |
|
I still haven't cleaned up from last year. I only have 3 trees chopped up out of 30+ that came down. Hoping to sell all this wood and pay off my mortgage.

On the news reports, I didn't realize so many folks still had debris everywhere. I figured it had all been cleaned up.

30. They still don't have all the roofs fixed! There are homes with |
|
blue roofs everywhere. Plus a lot of people got new roofs that didn't show damage after the hurricanes.
And we've been warned to expect trees to fall down for another year or two. The storms "moved" a lot of trees that didn't fall down when the big storms came through. So now their root system is not intact and a big wind of any type could bend them over.
