Ancestry of presidential candidates.
Man, this site is great, it takes my two loves and fuses them together:

http://www.wargs.com/political/

It shows the family tree of most presidential candidates. Some are far larger than others, but it gives you an idea.

The best part lists the ethnic/national ancestry of every candidate in percentages.

Did you know Bush is only 3% Irish? THANK GOD FOR THAT!

Or that Chris Dodd is 100% Irish?

John Edwards is 100% North American Colonial.

Mike Gravel is 100% French-Canadian.

Barack Obama is 50% Kenyan, 47% North American Colonial and 3% Irish.

Bill Richardson is 75% Hispanic, 25% New England Yankee!

1. Interesting stuff.
Don't you wish that we all had such fleshed-out charts?

I was interested to see that both Hillary Rodham Clinton and Joseph Biden had family in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I knew Biden was born in Scranton but wasn't aware that he came from the Irish community in Scranton. For all I know, his people and branches of my family might have been neighbors!

2. I'm related to Obama! And maybe you are, too.
I thought my Dunham ancestors might be related to his mother, Ann Dunham, but it turns out they aren't, at least on this chart. However, we are both directly descended from the same Hinckley ancestor in colonial Massachusetts, as are J.P. Morgan, John Hinckley (who shot Reagan), Gordon Hinckley (late head of the Mormon Church), and the Bush* family.

The notes indicate that he's also related to some earlier presidents: Madison, Wilson, Truman, and Carter. And he serves in the Senate with cousins Robert Byrd and Evan Bayh.

He has some other interesting relatives: Robert E. Lee, Howard Dean, John Steinbeck, Justin Timberlake, and JonBenet Ramsey, to name just a few. This is really fascinating.

3. I share at least one French Canadian ancestor
with HRC.

Jean Cusson and Marie M Foubert had 14 children. HRC's Mother descends from one daughter and I'm descended from another.

4. So funny, Barack Obama and I AND my assistant share common
roots with the Randolph, NC ALLRED clan (who had slaves and some went to join the Mormons in MO and then UT).

Heck, I gotta support the guy, lol, he's a COUSIN!!!
