Thank you! This must be why I've done extraordinarily well after my surgery! Thank you so much for the kind wishes, prayers, and support. :hug:

I went in the hospital Tuesday March 11 for my surgery. It took about three hours and then I woke up in a room...I was in the hospital til' Thursday afternoon, and I've stayed at my folks until last night.

Felt GREAT to be back at my house, in my bed, on my couch. After my mom dropped me off at home and helped me and my son get settled back in, I told her how much I appreciated everything she had done...

And the greatest lesson through this. My mother is the backbone of our family. I don't know what I'd do without her. She cared for me through some pretty rough spots over the past week, and she never grumbled or made me feel anything less than completely loved by her.

So THANK YOU, my DU friends for all your warm thoughts, and here's to mothers: :toast:

I tried to keep up with the news after I got home from the hospital, but I really didn't have control of my parents' TV. They're ESPN addicts...LOL. My mom watched the SEC basketball playoffs most of the week, and I slept as much as I could.

But I did watch when I could....and I couldn't wait to get back to see how it was playing at DU. I wasn't surprised when I read the excuses today. LOL.

I'm glad you are doing ok. We missed you....and I agree, Mom's are the BEST. My mother is 81 and still going strong. I don't know what I will ever do without her. I just got back from our mom and daughter day out. I try to take her out once a week to go shopping and have lunch and just have time together. I'm really blessed to have two elderly parents who at 81 are very healthy and strong.

One thing that often saddens me at DU is seeing people split from their families over political differences. I can't imagine ever disowning my mother, for any reason. We are so close that stuff like politics isn't what we obsess on when we're together.

Your mother and father sound like treasures. I'm so glad that you still have them in your life. I have both mine, too. My mom turned 73 yesterday, and my pop's 78th is coming up soon. The thought of losing them terrifies me. They are so central in my life, I just can't imagine what will fill that void...

My doctor told me that, as well as I feel, I should take it easy. So I'll be playing around on DU a lot in the next few weeks.
