JEREMIAH WRIGHT - Obama's preacher: Text of 4+minute excerpt of speech from YT video:
Edited on Wed Mar-12-08 11:06 PM by libbygurl
Note: Amidst the inflammatory rhetoric, we learn here that Hillary is guilty of many other sins, as well, as Mr Wright emphatically proclaims in this speech from the YT video taken from FOX.

=================

Jeremiah Wright speech from YouTube video (from FOX News)

(video begins in mid-sentence) ‘…people have to put up with, who cares about what a poor black man has to face everyday in a country and a culture controlled by rich, white people.

Somebody missed that, you got nervous ‘cause we got so many members here – I am still in Bible country. I am still in the text – Jesus was a poor black man who lived in a culture that was controlled by rich, white people. The Romans were rich, the Romans were Italian, which means they were European, which means they were white, and the Romans ran everything in Jesus’s country.

It just came to me within the past few week...why so many folk are hating on Barack Obama. He doesn’t fit the mold: he ain’t white, he ain’t rich, and he ain’t privileged.

Hillary fits the mold.
Europeans fit the mold. Giuliani fits the mold. Rich, white men fit the mold.

Hillary never had a cab whiz by her and not pick her up because her skin was the wrong colour. Hillary never had to worry about being pulled over as a black man driving in the wrong. (sic)

Now I am sick of Negroes who just do not get it. Hillary was not a black boy raised in a single parent home. Barack was.

Barack knows what it means to be a black man living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich, white people. Hillary can never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a n----r. Hillary has never been had a people (?not sure?) defined as non-present (?not sure?).

Hillary ain’t had to work twice as hard to get accepted by the rich, white folk who run everything or to get a passing grade (when) you know you are smarter than that C student sitting in the White House.

Oh, I am so glad I got a God who knows what it is to be a poor black man in a country and a culture that is controlled and run by rich, white people. He taught me, Jesus did, how to love my enemies. Jesus taught me how to love the hell out of my enemies and not to be reduced to their level of hatred, bigotry, and small-mindedness.

Hillary ain’t never had her own people say she wasn’t white enough. Jesus had his own people siding with the enemy. That’s why I love Jesus, y’all. He never let their hatred dampen his hope. There is a name I love to hear. (?not sure?) I love to sing his words. Sounds like…' (video cut off).

==================

Comments, anyone? Note the supreme irony of that penultimate paragraph about 'lov(ing) the hell out of my enemies and not be(ing) reduced to their level of hatred, bigotry, and small-mindedness'. I'm not surprised, after hearing this, that 70-90% of blacks are voting against Hillary.

6. And for those claiming it isn't racist...
...well, there's this thought experiment: try changing the skin colour to white (a la David Duke et al.) and see how that grabs you.

11. the message I took from this
is that white people are the enemy. That may not be exactly what he said, but that was what I felt afterwards. I kept hearing "enemy" as I watched the video. I actually felt hurt after watching his tirade, like I'd been painted with a really broad brush. Do I think Obama thinks this way? No, but it certainly does give me pause knowing he calls this guy his "mentor" or his "spiritual advisor". It makes me wonder, maybe Barack Obama does think this way. Does Michelle Obama think this way? I don't want to hear any man or any woman of any color talk about any other color and use the word "enemy". I don't want to hear anyone talk about any other religion and use the word "enemy". I don't want to hear one gender talk about the other and use the word "enemy". I don't want to hear straight people talk about LGBT people and use the word "enemy", or vice versa.

I just really don't like that word and find it scary.

12. I'm neither white nor black,
Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 11:13 AM by libbygurl
...(Asian expat here), but even I found this offensive and dangerously inflammatory, with Wright painting - EXACTLY - the 'rich, white people' as THE ENEMY.

And then to twist the story of Jesus by saying that Jesus made him love THE ENEMIES - 'to love THE HELL out of MY ENEMIES' - well, I don't think that can be made any clearer there whom he thinks THE ENEMY of blacks is - and Hillary is part of that ENEMY.

Guess what, we are enlightened about another sin of Hillary - she has the WRONG SKIN COLOUR, and that's all you need to know about her, never mind all she's done for lots of other people while in public service!

15. Just a few side comments....
Jesus wasn't Black....he was a Jew. If Wright wants to talk about persecution let's talk about the Holocaust.

Hillary may have never been called a nigger but I bet Barack has never been called a cunt, so let's have a fight over who has had it worse. :eyes:

And, if he's preaching this crap from the pulpit the church should use it's tax-exempt status.

Also, I saw where someone said this doesn't represent what Obama is all about....how do they know that? Why go to a church for 20 years and be mentored by the pastor for 20 years if this isn't what he's all about? I certainly wouldn't, would you?

I think this rips the mask off and it ain't pretty underneath.
